A Note from Amy

We all struggle at times with keeping God at the epicenter of our lives. When difficulties come or even the everydayness of life takes over, we turn our attention to those things. We begin to believe our story is being written by our circumstances, and we feel the need to control all the characters.

The good news is Jesus invites us to a different life. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

The theme for this study of the book of John was born out of the idea that as women, we love many things. Sometimes the love of these things takes over. They consume our minds and our hearts. We begin to believe that our lives are found in the resolution of problems or the perfect scenario actually coming true in our lives.

As a member of Jesus’ inner circle, John wrote his gospel in an attempt to help people like you and me believe that “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:31) This offer from John about Jesus includes the extraordinary promise of abundant and eternal life.

I want us to have them both. I want it for me, and I want it for you. Let’s unpack the book of John together. For Lent, let’s commit ourselves to reading the book of John and asking God to speak to us personally. I can’t wait to see what God does in all of us. Thank you for joining me on this journey!

With Love,
